So, I had this bright red Squire Bullet guitar in storage for like 5 years. I finally got it out of storage and, since I have some time finally to do some things that I've either been too busy or too lazy to work on, I decided to start noodlin' with the guitar again. I took the holiday weekend to go up to the Guitar Center in Salt Lake and poke around. It's been forever since I've been to a music store, so it was nice to be able to hit one up again. While I was there, I picked up a Marshall Mini Amp and a Boss Chromatic Tuner pedal and starting playing around.

I need to practice my fingerwork on the basic chords. I'm horribly uncoordinated when it comes to my left hand, so making it do some work for a change is going to be fun.

After working on chords for the last hour, fingertips are nice and throbby. Just the way I'd hope they would be after doing all this for an hour. Once I get the chords down, I need to work on switching between them. That's where the uncoordinated fun will come in. It'll just take practice I suppose.

I am surprised though that the guitar, despite sitting in the heat of a storage unit in Corona for 5 years, it was still relatively in tune. I think only 2 of the strings were horribly off. Not bad me thinks. I'm glad that I swopped out the strings when I first bought it. That Chromatic Tuner pedal is just a wonderful thing too. I'm glad that I saw it in action with [info]hsdshinji. A lot of the reviews I read were exceptionally favorable too. It's such a beautiful thing. Thanks Jon! :)

Now if it wasn't hella hot out here right now. I hate trying to go to bed in the heat...

You know, I've been on two big kicks recently.

Green Day and Evangelion.

Dunno why.

And I want a drum set again.

I think I'll blame that on Green Day. :)

Wow... Monday already. A bit tired this morning, but not any more than usual. And since there's little of consequence to talk about this morning, here's a meme. Snagged from [info]rabi:

Go to your music player of choice and put it all on shuffle. Say the following questions aloud, and after each one press play. Use the song title as the answer to the question.

Is it *truly* random? You be the judge! )

Shuffle is evil. ;)

Well, I came and went to Chicago for the 16 hours that I was there. Traffic and various other things kept me from making it to anyone's place. Of course, the flight out to Utah was delayed by and hour and a half because of the storms that were around Chicago. What was truly funny was that when I booked the flights yesterday morning, Southwest's site said that there was one stop for the flight here, but didn't say where. We got to the departure gate and there, right above the Salt Lake City sign, were two little words: Kansas City. Yes, I had to go home to get to Utah from Chicago. Truly silly.

Right now, I'm just trying to recover from the last 24 hours. I'm just sittin' and chillin'. But since I saw [info]rabi's meme post and I hath been tagged, here's that:

List ten songs that you are currently digging... it doesn't matter what genre they are from, whether they have words, or even if they're any good but they must be songs you're really enjoying right now. Post these instructions, the artists, and the ten songs in your blog. Then tag five other random people to see what they're listening to:

  1. Feel Good, Inc. - Gorillas
  2. Suddenly Tragic - CKY
  3. Mr. Brightside - The Killers
  4. SCREAM - GLAYxEXILE
  5. Rhapsody In Blue - Chicago Symphony Orchestra
  6. Be Your Girl - Chieko Kawabe
  7. Low Rider - War
  8. Wonka's Welcome Song - Danny Elfman
  9. Lovebug - George Strait
  10. Ronfaure - Nobuo Uematsu

And I pass the baton to: [info]bkun, [info]dennisthetiger, [info]matt_djtables, [info]ottermama, and [info]xanath. Of course, if you've already done it (it's hard to keep track of these things sometimes), please disregard this message. :P

Yes, today is feeling rather random, so I present yet another Shuffle for you. General blah and babble coming your way, courtesy of me:

  • $2.45. Wufa.
  • In other news, work was silly bizarre yesterday. It was kinda exciting since I was able to confound the client's programmers and pointed out a serious flaw in the project that we've been working on for the last 4 months. (Granted, this project was supposed to be something quick and should have been done back 3 months ago, but I digress...) My pointing out this flaw caused a spectacular ripple effect that effectively destroyed the project. Now the programmers have to go back and figure out what went wrong. Of course, the account people couldn't grasp what was wrong. It took me explaining the problem for like 30 minutes before anyone had a general idea that the thing was broken.
  • Eric & Kathy just mentioned that Green Day is playing at Allstate Arena in Rosemont tonight. That just sucks. Why can't I be there tonight? I'd like to see Green Day live.
  • Laptop's hard drive is most likely dead.. or the connector that goes to the hard drive is dead. Something has gone severely wrong with the PowerBook. I'm going to have to see if someone at CompUSA can look at it. I have a feeling though that a new computer is going to have to happen. Hopefully my brother's financial aid comes in soon so my Dad can order the computers from the College. I want my Dual 2.7 G5.
  • The search for the new TV starts today. Whatever I find will be gotten on Friday afternoon. It'll most likely be something 27" and cheap. We'll see what I find.
  • [info]ottermama and I subjected [info]nexusfx to Ranma 1/2 last night. We watched the first 5 episodes of the 1st Season. Got him hooked on another series. :) It's so nice to be able to be spreading anime goodness again.
  • I'm tired. Like usual.

I think that's it for now. Just glad that it's Wednesday and the week is half over. I can't wait for Friday.
