So, this last weekend I, rather unexpectedly, ended up going to the first anime con that I've ever been to where I wasn't working something at the con the entire time, Ohayocon 2007 in Columbus. I was part of the Voices For band crew and it was a kick ass weekend of fun, goofiness, music and insanity. Got to hang out with a lot of cool people. Granted, a lot of the guests that I was able to hang out with, I've met them all before and I know who they all are. They just have little to no clue who I am or that we had met before. But that's ok. TIme will take care of that...

I was happy to see everyone that I did. It was great to see yammerin_nutsak and the Noodle Man, bam2, fightdir, banzchan and Emily, goldenboyd, janscottfrazier, Monica, Brittney, Mike, Tiffany and Matt, Rikki and Tavi, Bruce... Then there's all of my ACen friends down there as well. angelmerc0, acenconchair, djopm, socialninja, Tim L., Brandi... It was a good old time. I was glad that I was able to hang out more with the likes of Doug, Jan, Bob and Emily over the weekend. Lots of fun was had. I'm glad that I was able to be there for a change. I remember why I enjoy the cons. It's to hang out with all the cool folks that I've been fortunate to meet over the last 12 years. I'll hopefully have a much bigger report written up soonly. :)

As for today, it's that time of year again. As I type this, the Macworld Keynote is going on and there's SURE to be some cool new stuff from Apple today. I'll have more on what I want to drool over later on in the day. Until then, I'm going to go back to the keynote coverage... Laters! ;)

 

In a bizarre twist, I'm on my way to Ohayocon to help with the Voices For band transportation. I'll see whoever will be there when I get there.

Yes, it's that time of year yet again. I'm 8 hours away from being on the plane, heading to the ultimate convention, San Diego Comic-Con. It's nice to get down to SD. Nice weather that's not overly hot or overly icky. Lots of silliness always in store too. And we've got a lot of new people joining the crew down there this year. It'll be fun.

Like most years down there, I have little to no money, so I'm just going down to veg and enjoy the con. Last year I didn't really go to any panels. Not sure if I will this year... there are a few things that I noticed in the schedule. I'll have to look through again and see if there's REALLY anything that I want to go see...

We should have internet access at the hotel, so I'll still be online, but I'll be away from the computer most of the time. :)

ACen has come and gone. It was a great experience overall. Spent a ton of time in the Exhibit Hall working the Reactor booth. Hung out with tons of cool folks. Ate lots of good food... Got to play roadie and got to sing and hang out with the trés excellent crew from our Voices For Peace album.

It's nice to have a great con experience. :)

Well, it's ACen time. I'm off to get ready to head over to the hotel and then the insanity may commence. I'll be offline for the next few days and we'll see everyone when the weekend is over. Or if you're going to be there, I'll see you there! :)

 

So the 3-week-turned-1-week contract is coming to an end. It wasn't overly bad. There were a few boring spots, but nothing too bad. I was able to do some new things in Flash, so that's never a bad thing.

As for next week, Monday I have an interview with a company that I'm excited about. It'll be a very nice paying job with international travel involved. I loves me some travelin'. I hope this one goes through cause it has the potential to be some really good stuff. (And being paid to hang out in places like Tokyo, London, Sydney and the like is never frowned upon.) Then it's ACen. All sorts of fun-strange-goofy-dramatic stuff will be sure to happen. Wouldn't be an anime con without it. Boy is next week going to be interesting.

Of course, I hope work happens. Being able to find a more permanent place to live would be a good thing.

Yes, in a little less than 24 hours, I'll be stepping off an airplane in San Diego and will not have to worry about anything for 7 days. I'm going to hang with friends. I'm going to smooze with comic, anime and film industry big wigs. I'm going to see the Dear Friends Final Fantasy concert. I'm going to eat cheap food at the Kansas City BBQ. I'm going to see a Padres game. I'm going to see Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in a crappy theatre. (But that's all good. I'll have friends around, so it's ok.) I'm going to walk more in a week than I've prolly walked in the last month. I'm going to get to meet up with Richard and Wendy Pini (of Elfquest fame). I may even see some anime and read some manga and comics while I'm there.

Yes, this is going to be an EXCELLENT week.

And then, when it's winding down, I get to fly out to my parent's place for a day or so. It'll be nice to see them.

And to get all the stuff that I need that I had to leave there when I moved.

Oh, and there will be pictures and/or video taken, so I'll have something to show the world when I get back.

Yes. Only 7 days left until SDCC! Woowoo!

I sooooooooooo need a vacation. This one is going to be good. :)
